Helping kids help themselves.

I am a huge proponent for children feeling empowered in their lives to trust themselves, identify their needs, speak up, and ask for support. Teaching kids how to work on their relationship with themselves will empower both the child and the adult caregiver.

Of course, we all want children to feel seen, heard and supported. And in reality this doesn’t always happen. We are human and, in my eyes, this just means were messy and we will make mistakes.

As humans, we are messy. We try our best, over give, over commit, forget our own needs to take care of the needs of our kids, and in so doing we feel depleted and give our children an idea that we can’t meet their needs. The truth is, at a certain age children are able to take some responsibility. We don’t have to be super parents. We can show them that we’re human and that we’re perfectly imperfect.

Kids need to feel the benefit of their presence in the space, to not feel alone in problems and situation’s that seem insurmountable, but also feel empowered with her own wisdom to resolve the situation, knowing that the adult is present to support them if needs be. Building emotional resiliency and mental well-being happens by cultivating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) skills.

Below is a playlist containing videos specifically designed for children, teachers, staff, administrators (and anyone in the education field) to interrupt, counter-act and repattern the effects of stress related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

I am now offering a more all encompassing program that includes SEL (Social Emotional Learning) and mindfulness tools to support self-care for students and teachers going back to school in a time of COVID19.
